Biography:
Donald Cottman is a ’93 alumnus of UCSB and a ’97 alumnus of UCSF, obtaining his B.S. in pharmacology and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. He completed a pharmacy practice residency with the University of Tennessee in ’98, focusing on community care and implementing innovative models of clinical community pharmacy practice. From 2000 to 2005, he established and operated the Allied Owners Residencies program, providing administrative support and guidance a number of community residency sites across the United States. He was recognized by the California Pharmacy Association in 2004 for this activity, receiving their Innovative Pharmacist of the Year award. In 2005, he founded BioActive Therapeutics to provide point-of-care technical services and clinical expertise to physicians to enable their use of cellular-based therapies in treating patients. He continues to operate this company in Stockton, California, educating insurers and clinicians about cellular-based therapies and establishing the role of the cellular pharmacist in regenerative medicine practice.
